If you have a book you would like reviewed for potential addition to the APOPS LIBRARY, contact APOPS through the CONTACT APOPS page.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse: The Silent Epidemic By Sherrie J. PalmPelvic Organ Prolapse: The Silent Epidemic is a book that defines the common yet seldom discussed health condition pelvic organ prolapse, its causes, symptoms, and treatments, and the impact of POP to women’s sexuality. This book dissects the path women walk from recognition and diagnosis of POP through the surgical and nonsurgical treatment options they need to choose between to find optimal pelvic floor health.

PROLAPSE REPAIR CYSTOCELE, RECTOCELE, ENTEROCELE AND THE DA VACINCI ROBOTIC SURGICAL SYSTEMBy Lennox Hoyte, MD

Written in straightforward, easy to understand language with photographs and drawings, this book explains the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and potential outcomes for pelvic organ prolapse. After reading Prolapse Repair you will understand what prolapse is and will be able to understand the difference between types of prolapse; you will also learn how to determine if your symptoms are related to prolapse, the different ways that prolapse can be treated, both surgically and without surgery, along with the “pros and cons” of each approach. Skilled in transvaginal, abdominal, and robotic methods of prolapse repair, Dr. Hoyte explains why he believes the robotic approach is one of the best available methods for treating prolapse.

Myofascial StretchingBy Jill Stedronsky, MS, OTR & Brenda Pardy, OTR

Myofascial Strechging is a book written about self-help aspects of the John Barnes method of myofascial release therapy that patients can utilize on their own to supplement treatments with a therapist or to self-treat. Fascia (connective tissue) can restrict and pull the body out of alignment, causing pain and dysfunction including pelvic floor issues. This book describes techniques to help patients release their own fascia, restoring normal tissue length and optimal health to the body. Myofascial Release and self-treatment of the fascial system can be very beneficial for women suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction and post-surgical scarring.
